Congress of the Nordic Association of Otorhinolaryngology 2027

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 36^th Nordic Congress of Otorhinolaryngology here in Turku in May 2027—where the air is fresh, the science is cutting-edge, and the conversations are more enlightening than my old head lamp with ancient batteries.

We are truly honoured to host such an outstanding gathering of experts, researchers, and clinicians. Turku, with its rich history and lively academic spirit, offers the perfect setting—along with reasonably good coffee, which we all know is essential for scientific advancement. We look forward to inspiring lectures, lively discussions, and discoveries that will help our patients hear better, breathe easier, and live happier. This congress is also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, make new friends, and finally put faces to names that have been living in your inbox for years.

During your stay, you will notice that life in Turku revolves around the Aura River. We measure distance by how many bridges you cross, and decisions by which side of the river has the better restaurants—which, of course, is still under active research and may require a randomized trial during this congress.

Beyond the scientific program, I warmly encourage you to explore the unique Turku archipelago. Take a ferry, rent a bike, or simply follow the locals toward the sea. Island-hopping is highly recommended—just remember that “a short trip” in the archipelago can easily turn into a full-day adventure involving sunshine, sea breeze, and at least one unexpected cinnamon bun stop. And of course, no visit is complete without a sauna. Consider it an optional—but strongly recommended—adjunct therapy for congress fatigue.
